A little know form of fake fat loss is the depleting of gut flora. There is a lot of life in your intestines, and most of it is quite beneficial. Bacteria plays an essential role in digestion, and if it is depleted, you end up digesting poorly, which has serious consequences in terms of weight gain and increases risks of nasty diseases such as colon cancer.
