Workouts
Working out may be good for fat loss…
but not nearly as good as people think!
In itself, it cannot be the only element in your fat loss strategy. People too often think that if they work out, then they can basically eat whatever they like. It may be true for some people (generally the enduring type that don’t have to worry too much about weight in the first place), but if you have problems with fat, then it isn’t true for you.
A hard training session will almost never burn more than 1000 calories. Even running on th treadmill for an hour doesn’t generally burn that much.
But it is very common for people to have an over 1000 calorie surplus!
That’s right, there is a good chance that you are overeating without even knowing it. It is only one of the common causes for fat loss deficiency, but a very important one.
No amount of exercise can compensate if you are consistently over-eating by more calories than you can burn off.
Exercise, however, builds muscle. Even if you aren’t building bulky muscle, endurance training builds red muscle cells that do not show like white muscle cells do.
In both cases those extra live cells do enhance your metabolism, but you only gain an extra couple hundred calorie deficit. Over time, it counts, but it still doesn’t make up for that all too common 1000 calorie surplus.
Exercise is good for fat loss, but it is difficult if your body isn’t prepared, and useless (for fat loss, but not for other general health benefits) if you are still overeating.
Start with a good diet, as described in the diet page.
Understand and curb hunger, eat fewer calories while maintaining a healthy metabolism, and stabilize blood sugar to avoid sugar cravings and regaining fat.
Build a sound strategy for efficient, lasting, healthy and natural fat loss through sound dieting. Then use workouts to speed up the process.
Exercise is fun when you are prepared. It is hard and painful when you aren’t.
You probably aren’t prepared if you haven’t already lost some fat through dieting, increased cellular activity naturally, taught yourself to drink enough water…
